Gameplay
When you begin in the world you are off to a set of 3 tutorial missions, these will show you how to play the game, and get the most out of your characters and the monsters in the battlegrounds. Completing these will get you a free character and allow you to start earning the hero points you need to collect new characters and the variety of different items you need to build up your power levels.
As you play you can build up a roster of characters, each with a unique role within the game, such as Tank or Marksman. These different roles define the abilities that they have and how they will fight. To get a good win you need some balance on your team so being able to play a variety of different types of hero is to your benefit. There is also a rotation of free characters each week where you get to try them out, and you can also win a 3 day trial of almost any character from the chests.
Each battleground is the typical MOBA fair, you have 3 lanes, turrets to destroy and minions flooding the board from each side. The aim is to destroy your enemies base, and there are also monsters waiting in the jungle surrounding the lanes that you can fight for team bonuses. The team that clear the enemy base first win and there are a variety of different tactics and team setups available.
Within each game you will also earn gold, this is spent on adding or improving items on your characters, and this is earned by the whole team. These items can be predetermined before the battle in a specific set, and you can have 3 presets ready to go and you choose the one you want as you queue. These items can provide a serious boost to your toughness and ability to solo or survive other players.
You are also able to rank up the characters skills in each battle. These open up as you and your team get kills, monsters or towers and they vastly improve your ability to compete. You have 3 active and one passive skill and these range from damage to healing and crowd control depending on the class you have chosen.
Outside of the battles there are lots of bonuses, items and activities to help you improve your cast of heroes and make them more powerful. These range from completing daily challenges to a series of achievements that all have rewards such as puzzle pieces to open new characters or mana used to enfuse your runes and make the character immediately tougher from the start of a fight.
There are several different kinds of battle too, from casual against bots, to fast paced PvP and the serious player can go into the ranked battles for points and prestige. These all take place in a variety of arenas and the usual 5 v 5 team play. You can play with your friends, follow others and make special groups to try and take control of the leaderboards.
As this is a dedicated mobile game, the controls are also created to be used on tablets and phones. This gives a unique feel to the game, and also brings a good set of adjustable controls. There are options to play on the PC as well using third party software, though the characters are still played using the same controls systems. Pretty easy to pick up these methods will give you a great experience and allow you to just play, which for this type of game is a really good thing.
The look and feel of Mobile Legends is really great considering the platform restrictions and the action is fast paced and playable. There are a huge range of characters for you to choose from and lots of ways to get them unlocked. There are premium services available for Diamonds, which you can purchase for real money and they allow you to unlock characters much faster, and buy the more powerful skins. But these can also be earned free to play too it just takes more time.

As a mobile game Mobile Legends has been built with a lot of social options, you can add friends and follow people on Facebook, stream live to Youtube and there is an ingame and in battle chat where you can talk to players all over the world. There are also rewards for making friends in the game and a dedicated social rank top 10 list too. This all builds up to a very social game where you can spend time with your friends and make new ones too.
Graphics/Sound
There is a really nice quality to the game that is quite surprising, the battles are fun and you can clearly see the action, heroes and abilities going off on the small and big screen. Outside of the battles it is easy to navigate and the character profiles are really nicely designed and look great. The music is as dramatic and impactful as you would want and it looks and feels really nice when you play.
Conclusion
For a game dedicated to the mobile market, it is a really complete piece of work that is enjoyable to play. There are a lot of levels of skill and your games are matched accordingly, giving you a better experience. There are a lot of freebies for FTP players too, so you can really get into it fast and keep on going. Overall a fun game with a lot to do and some really engaging battles too.
