Gameplay
Come one, come all to Upjers’ latest simulation game, My Free Circus! To start playing, you’ll first need to learn the basics of circus management. Thankfully, with the tutorial provided, you’ll be up and running in no time.
Being simulation game, My Free Circus isn’t a very hard game to learn or play. As you’re the owner of a circus and a business, it falls on you to try to attract as many visitors to your circus as you can so you can earn enough to buy some new attraction.
There is quite a wide range of attractions that you can buy, including a large variety of show animals, ranging from the more docile elephants and ponies to the ferocious bears, lions and tigers. You could also recruit performers to your circus... after all, what’s a circus without its troupe of clowns, knife-jugglers, acrobats and other types of entertainers? These performers and attractions need to be tended to from time to time and they can also be trained to improve their performing abilities.
Once you have some performers in your troupe, it’s definitely high time for a show! You simply need to tap on the ringmaster right outside the big top to get the show started. Interestingly, instead of popping a timer like what most games would do, you actually get to enjoy the show itself, albeit an animated one. Of course, you’ll then earn a ton of coins at the end of the show.
There are plenty of ways for you to earn some cash, but it may be a bit slow going for some. You can periodically collect coins from admissions booth at the circus’ entrance and you could also fulfill the requests for your visitors. Most of their requests will involve feeding your show animals or filling their own tummies – even virtual people need to eat, you know! However, before you can fulfill any of their requests, you’ll first need to grow some food.
That’s where the farm plots come in! There is a nice selection of crops that you can plant, grow and harvest, such as carrots, corns and tomatoes, as well as a nice variety of fruit trees, which will be unlocked as you level up. You can directly use these raw fruits or vegetables to feed your animals, but for humans, you may need to cook the crops first into something more edible.
Have a ton of excess foodstuff to the point where it is spilling out from its designated storage area? Well, in that case, you could also sell these items via the Deliveries board. You can only perform 1 delivery at any time, but once the truck’s back from making its delivery, you can then sell more stuff. Of course, as you level up, you’ll also unlock a slew of shops and stalls which will cater to the taste buds of your visitors and earn you some extra cash.
Once all of that is done over with, it’s time to spruce your place up with some beautiful decorations. Seriously, a pretty circus is like magnet for your circus’ visitors, and let’s not forget that you can also collect valuable equipments periodically from these décors. Different decorations generate different equipments so it’s important to have a variety of décor in your circus.
If you find yourself running out of space, well, you could shell over some game cash and equipments to expand your circus’ territory. Sometimes, you may bump into some obstacles on your new plots of land. These obstacles can be cleared with more equipments, cash and some waiting time.
Community
As My Free Circus is a pretty new game, its community is still relatively small, especially if you compare it with any of Upjers’ popular simulation games. That being said, the community in this game will definitely grow over time, and well, the game does have a pretty attractive social aspect where you can help out your fellow circus owners for some extra bonuses. So, don’t forget to invite your friends to join you in My Free Circus!
Graphics/ Sound
With a bright cartoonish look, My Free Circus definitely appeals to casual, mid-core and perhaps right up to core gamers. The whimsical music that the game plays in the background is pretty catchy and has that melody; that rhythm that fits so perfectly with the whole circus theme. It’s also important to note that the game has some pretty realistic weather system that will change the whole atmosphere of the game. If you could, it’s most certainly best to play the game with its sound turned on so you get the most out of your gaming experience.
Conclusion
In short, My Free Circus is an entertaining simulation game, perhaps one of its kind, that actually allows its players to manage their very own virtual circus. You’ll get to recruit your own troupe of performers and show animals, as well as put on amazing shows for your visitors. The game even features some elements of a farm simulation game, whereby you can plant, grow and harvest your own crops, and turn them into cooked food to fill the bellies of both your animals and your human performers. If you have always wanted to have a circus of your own, My Free Circus is definitely a game you wouldn’t want to miss. After all, what more could we ask for – the game’s incredibly fun, amazing to look at and is not at all a massive time sink.
