Summary

Paradise Bay is a mobile game with town-building features that was developed by King; the makers of Candy Crush Saga. In this game, you'll be managing a beautiful tropical island. The game lets you plant and harvest crops, fish for seafood and even expand your little village by leveling up to open new areas and structures. You can invite friends to visit your island as well.

Gameplay

You start off in an island with small land space to start your village building journey. You are the Trademaster of your designated island and your goal is to trade raw materials to the villagers and earn money and experience to improve the seaport with better structures and buildings and make Paradise Bay the best seaport in the region. To trade materials, you must plant seeds to produce raw materials such as cotton, wood and even fruits. You can also gather seafood from large bodies of water with the help from the very helpful turtles.

To produce crops in the field, you must build field tiles on the land, at certain levels you are only limited to a certain amount and to increase the maximum number of tiles, you must level up. When plating, you select a raw material and place it on the field, depending on the material, some may take a few seconds while other are around half an hour. Once the crops are ready, you then drag the harvest knife and swipe on the crops to claim them, it will then provide your decent amount of crop materials and experience points.

The same thing can be done for seafood, you highlight an idle turtle near a body of water and drag the preferred seafood icon from the pop up window to the turtle and let it do the work. Some seafood may take a while to be caught and the same process like in the crops is done for picking up the seafood. At certain period when the production time is almost at its end, you can opt to rush the production without any added cost, but if you want to rush a production way earlier, you may have to spend a gem depending on the item to instantly produce it.

Gathering the raw materials also allows you to produce other next tier materials, for instance making plywood requires the production of bamboo and pineapple juice requires pineapple fruits. Other high tier items will be available once you reach as certain level in the game. Alternatively you can use a gem as a substitute to any insufficient material that you have.

All of the materials that you have gather can be used for trading at the Trading Post, here several NPCs around the island will be making trade requests for you. Some requests may be simple materials that you can harvest, while some while require certain level of production and will take longer time, but these requests will reward you will large amount of experience points, gold coins and hearts for the NPC.

All NPCs have a heart meter that fills up whenever you complete their requests, once the meter is full, you will receive a special gift from the NPC which can be a large amount of experience points, gold, raw materials or even gems.

There are some features from buildings that can provide additional support for your island once you reach certain levels. There is a wares store that lets you sell your materials to real players that are looking for raw materials in the market, you can adjust the pricing and the amount of items that you will sell. There is also the market area where you can find players online that are selling materials. And there is also a structure that lets you find animals around the island interact with them. There are a lot of possible things that you can do in Paradise Bay.

Since this is a free to play game, expect a lot of premium options that requires purchases. You can buy gold for constructing more buildings or gems to hasten any production or produce materials, you may also purchase premium pets from the item mall as well that can provide boost to your production.

Community

You can link your Facebook account to Paradise Bay to let you connect with your friends who are currently playing or you can invite them to play with you. You can then send or receive gifts or even trade with your friends for any missing materials that you need. There are quite a number of active players in Paradise Bay, which you won’t have to worry if you are looking for rare materials in the online market that some players might be selling.

Graphics/ Sound

The game features a cartoony art design to make it approachable to casual gamers and kids. Having a tropical themed level is a good refresher to some who are tired of the same metropolis-based games. The audio such as music features some drum beating beats and relaxing music that fits well on casual games.

Conclusion

Paradise Bay is still your usual city management game, but it offers a refreshing world that will attract casual gamers of all ages. The game encourages you to trade more and, the best part - you'll even get to interact with a ton of adorable virtual pets. Though the game may be heavy in the "premium items" department, you can opt not to spend and you can still enjoy the game at you own pace.
