Summary

The little mermaid sets off on her own adventure to save the human she saw who “fell” from the world above into her underwater abode along with plenty of ship debris in this fun bubble shooter game, Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure! However, she will need to get some help. Match 3 bubbles of the same color or more to free the poor fishes trapped in bubbles and they will help the mermaid in return to search for the shipwreck and to engage the “scheming octopus” boss in an epic boss battle. If there are any tougher-than-usual levels that have gotten you stumped, well, there are plenty of power-ups that you can buy which certainly will be able to help you! Plotline

It’s another peaceful day in mermaid’s underwater home, but suddenly the ground shook as debris of a sunken ship dropped down from the world above. She spied a humanoid-like shadow floating past... could it be a human? It’s not every day a mermaid get to meet a human and she is determined to save him... like mermaids do in the fairy tales. Who knows? He may just turn out to be her Prince Charming!

Gameplay

To start playing Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure, you’ll have to learn how the game works first, especially if you have not played a similar game before! What you’ll need to do in this game is to match at least 3 bubbles of the same color to pop them. If you cannot find way to get a match, you should try searching for a match again by swapping your current bubble for the next one in line. You can do so by clicking on the next bubble or you could just use spacebar to switch the bubbles. However, you are given limited moves per level of the game to complete the game’s objectives. Thus, you should be careful where you shoot your bubbles, so that you don’t waste them!

The level goals are generally the same throughout the game that is to pop all of the bubbles containing fishes inside to pass the level. Do take note that you can shoot the fish-containing bubbles with your bubble shooter to free them or you could also use the usual method of shooting its surrounding bubbles to “drop” it down. The game also offers exciting boss battles, whereby you’ll still have to free the trapped fishes, but in this case, these fishes will attack the boss once freed. This is the only way to attack the boss!

Furthermore, if you want to have the best high score among your friends, you should also know about the best way to earn more points. The trick here is that you will need to drop as many bubbles as you can with each shot you make! This is because there are 5 clams at the bottom of the game interface that will be collecting any bubbles you drop (but not those you popped!). Each of these clams have their own designated score with the middle clam giving the biggest bonus (1000 points) and the outermost clams giving only 300 points. Nevertheless, these are all bonus points that you’ll definitely need if you want to be at the top of the leaderboard! To drop these chunks of bubbles into the clams below isn’t as easy as it sounds though! Sometimes, you’ll need to use the wall bouncing technique to bounce your bubbles so that you can get to the bubbles at the base of the chunk of bubbles and knock them off. It can be a rather risky move, but if you managed to pull it off, you’ll definitely be well rewarded!

Besides making full use of those clams below as well as the bouncing method, you should also use the game’s combo system to your advantage! Pop bubbles without missing a shot to charge up the combo pie-chart thingy at the bottom right, but be warned – even if you miss a shot, your entire combo streak will be lost and you’ll have to start all over again. If you managed to maintain your combo up to a 6 combo streak, you’ll be rewarded with a free power bubble, which technically works similarly to the rainbow bubble. This special bubble can match the color of any bubble you hit.

Each level in this game provides up to 3 stars for you to earn, but you just need a mere 1 star to proceed to next level. Although getting 3 stars is not a requirement in this game, if you can manage it though, you’ll definitely be much highly ranked on the leaderboard! The levels are not as tough at the beginning, so for those, you can definitely get 3 stars. Oh and unlike other games where you’ll need friends’ help to unlock a new stage, in Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure, new stages are provided for free.

However, it can be tough to complete a level perfectly sometimes due to the introduction of various challenging obstacles to the game. For instance, shells are troublesome objects that cannot be popped like bubbles and can only be dropped. They tend to pop up at the most inconvenient places, forcing you take the risky route of attempting a bounced shot. There are also frozen bubbles which you’ll have to hit multiple times before you can match them up. You’ll soon learn to dislike these annoying obstacles, but they do make the game so much more varied and interesting!

This may bring another problem though... if a level proves to be too hard and you’ve failed the level as a result of that, you’ll then lose a life. You are only given a maximum of 5 lives to lose and if you ran out of lives, you’ll need to wait until your lives are regenerated over time, pester your friends for more lives or shell out some real cash to buy more! This is where the many power-ups the game provides come in!

There are 2 types of power-ups though – one of which can only be purchased before a game starts while the other can be bought in-game. Some examples of in-game power-ups include the telescope which extends your shooter’s aim, making it great for wall bouncing shots and bubble blaster that is able to bring down bubbles or shells in a blast! There are also the rock crab that can knock jellyfishes off all shells. The in-game power-ups are all premium cash-only while there are 2 power-ups you can buy using in-game cash prior to entering into a game. However, if you can persuade your friends to join you in Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure, you can earn free power-ups besides the new player freebies. Moreover, these power-ups are level-locked as well, so you can unlock more power-ups as you progress in the game.

Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure is rather popular bubble shooting game, though it does lose out in terms of its Facebook fan page likes to its predecessor, Bubble Epic - it only has around 170 thousand likes! Graphics/ Sound

Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure has a pretty nice soothing music that is very pleasant to listen to and despite being looped, it doesn’t sound annoying at all. The music is filled with ambient sounds as well, like bubbles and the sounds of sea creatures! There is also some variety to the music as the music you’ll be listening to while playing is much different from the one on the level selection screen – it is a lot more catchy and upbeat. In terms of graphics, Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure is filled with brightly-colored bubbles against beautiful underwater background images.

In a nutshell, Bubble Epic: Mermaid Adventure is a fun-filled and challenging bubble shooter game that does make the game it is based on (Bubble Epic) proud! In this game, you have to help a little mermaid as she went on an adventure across the beautiful ocean floor to save the human who sank with his wrecked ship.
