Summary

Set in the amazing world of the Terminator franchise this MMO Strategy takes you to the heart of the conflict. You'll get to decide who will win the war as you take control of either the Rebels or the Terminators and build your base, create armies and take the battle to your enemies.

Plotline

In the dark future Skynet has taken control and is bent on destroying humanity. A brave few rebels remain to fight them off and try to save what is left. After the events of the Genisys film, Skynet is dead and John Connor is missing. Now it falls to you to take over and see if you can bring order to the world, or save it from the machines. Choose your side and determine the fate of Earth in a stunning MMO Strategy game.

Gameplay

When you first open the app you are given the choice of which faction you wish to play, this is much more a roleplay preference than pure statistics as many of the units are the same. So here you can pick the faction you feel would be most fun, the human rebellion or the machines of the terminators. Once you make the choice it is final, so pick the one you want to stick with.

From there you game begins, and you are taken to your new base. Here you have a tutorial phase where an npc will show you around and give you the basics of the game. You will need to make a series of production buildings to farm resources and once you do you are able to start making military units and attacks. As you go through the tutorial you will gain some xp, items and other useful bits and pieces.

There are 4 resources you need to produce buildings, units and items. They are: Fuel, Energy, Materials and Ammo. All of these can be farmed by making the appropriate buildings and upgrading them as you go. Once you have these items you can begin to make yourself an army and go out and conquer nearby territories. Going to war is one of the best ways to gather resources quickly and there are 2 types.

You can enter into PvE battles against bases and places nearby in your sector. Before you go you can scout the area to have an idea of the enemy strength, then you can send in your army. The battle happens automatically and the results are sent to you by mail. If you win you will get a lot of resources and potentially items and more military units that you can use. These battles take time and the higher you level the more time it will take. Though you can speed these up if you wish. There is also the option to attack other players too, this is much more risky as they can have stronger defences, but the prizes are also much higher too.

Terminator Genisys: Future War also provides you with a series of quests, completing these will get you XP as well as resources or materials you can use. While these quests are not mandatory they can be really useful, especially as showing you the progression of the game and how to get the best out of your base and units. You can also do them out of order, so if you happen to jump ahead you will still get the rewards.

Your overall level is used to determine your rank in pvp, and each time you earn a new level you get a pile of rewards too. You can also improve the level of the buildings in your base, this will give you more things to do and access to more powerful units. Keeping on top of the ranks is an important part of the game, especially if you wish to content in PvP.

You can also join a guild too, in the game they are called Clans, and they come with many benefits and the option to join in full clan wars too. These are just what you think they are and can be a lot of fun, and have some good rewards but there are also the dangers you would expect going on too. This adds a fun social element to what could be a single player game too.

As you would expect there is also the option to speed up the game using premium currency, in Terminator Genisys: Future War it is called TP, and they are available directly in the game and the payment is taken from your account immediately. There are lots of other items and options included in the bundles and the TP can give you an edge if you decide to use them.

The controls for the game are really simple, as it is a mobile game you just need to click on the screen in the appropriate places. The user interface is simple to navigate and everything is clearly marked. Though you are limited in where you can put your buildings inside the base as it is a predetermined map. Other than that it is a pretty easy game to get the hang of and there are lots of useful tips and hints everywhere.

Community

As this is a new game you may think that there is not much here, but because it is from Plarium there is an already loyal fan base waiting to try. Throw in the the amazing world setting and you have an already huge game full of players. As you would expect there are also the usual forums and social media websites full of conversations and tips too. There are also already several larger guilds running in the competitive edge of the game.

Graphics/Sound

Terminator Genisys: Future War has a really dark feel to it that really matches the setting. There are lots of hints and clear designs that show you the difference in factions too. The buildings, units and controls are all easily defined too. Though with the amount of extra buttons the screen can feel a little full. The music follows the theme of the movies and you can really feel the franchise throughout the game.

Conclusion

With a lot of features Terminator Genisys: Future War has a huge range of activities for you to take part in. The guild wars can be fun and the PvP brings a more intriguing edge to the game. Though the game can feel slow at the start once you get a decent army going you can really make a lot of resources. Overall there is a good feel to the game, and it follows the very successful platform of Plarium games and has a lot of fun to be found as well.
